I have shorter legs, so I like shorter shorts. Bought these for the beach. The pockets are deep enough to hold my 6.5in i-phone 8-plus with just a tiny bit of peaking out the top. Despite the claim, this is NOT a tummy control suit, but that's ok because I bought it for the length and styling. I normally wear a size 16, 5'5" with an apple shape/big tummy but average thighs. Bought the XL. I like that it's not tight around my thighs and drapes a little but should fit a bigger butt or thighs nicely. The mesh panty underneath is a little sad in that the flimsy elastic around the leg openings is nearly non-existent. If you're between sizes or you want to have a more snug fit, you may want to size down. Overall, I'm happy with these swim shorts.
